• Due to the delicate respiratory systems of aviary pets, we suggest that they are not kept in the kitchen as there are harmful concerns from burned foods, smoke, and cleaning solvents. Even burning butter can release fumes into the air that can be detrimental to birds. At temperatures above 500F, nonstick coatings may begin to decompose and give off fumes. Tips to avoid overheating a pan include not leaving an empty pan on the burner for longer than a few minutes and cooking at or below medium-high heat.
