It functions exactly the same, except the code that would be on the physical card is just emailed to you. The downside is you don't get a physical copy of the card. But they'll email you the code, and you can just forward that to your grandson. Really quick process, and pretty painless!

Please try again later.Physical is the actual card with the amount purchased where they can themselves have the card and input the code into Nintendo eshop and the amount will be added to their account. Digital is where best buy emails you the code of the amount you purchased. In which you would have to then email or give the code to the person yourself in some way for them to add to their account. Unfortunately bestbuy at this time i dont believe has a gift email for giftcards for them to be delivered.
