• Thank you for your question. The Blade will not run on the Base without the Cup, but we do not recommend having on the Motor Base without the Cup.

• The blender has three buttons that need to be pressed in order to turn on. It has two switches up top that are pressed by the container. Then the power button is towards the bottom on your left. No twisting required.
