yes it could act as a surveillance station via some paid add-on apps...both Wi-Fi and ethernet cams would work...wired better quality and reliability...I haven't done a full recording setup yet but I have my cameras viewable in an app...and that app had options for recording....I think many apps do....

Please try again later.I haven't used ethernet connected security cameras before, but if they function anything like how a HDHomeRun functions (cable box attached to ethernet), it should work fine as long as there's an app that can work with the cameras on the network. Personally I have the HDHomeRun attached to a switch attached to my hub, the Shield/apps detect it just fine, and I can watch live TV without a hitch.
