Hey James! Awesome question! While we don't recommend using the grip without the adhesive, the magnets in the grip are super strong and have a great hold up against a magsafe ring added to the back of a phone.

It performs better. This thing is very difficult to remove. You have to really dig your nails under it or even use a knife to leverage it off. It’s not coming off unless you really try to remove it.

Does not damage the phone at all. Transferred it multiple times from cases to even the phone itself. No residue or damage.

I'm just using the magnet, and it works fine. No signs of scratches or damage.
