Hello BlueToothQ, You can turn on the receiver with the Bluetooth device. To do that, you have to turn On "Bluetooth Wakeup" in the TXNR6100 menu under Hardware, by default this feature is Off. To answer your volume question, unfortunately, you cannot adjust the receivers volume via the Bluetooth device. However, since you are using your phone as the bluetooth device you can download the Onkyo App to adjust volume the via that way that everything is done with one device. Thank you Onkyo
