“The bottom portion...the opening for the connector... Is it open or covered with a flap...if a flap, does it open up or down..if up..not good.. SS7 cover had to be replaced...the flap presses on the cord and ruins the connection cord...”

It's covered up, but can easily be opened to plug in the cable. The flap is the perfect shape to fit in the cable slot, and when charging the phone, the flap is up.
