It should be able to charge a Qi-enabled device; the light doesn’t need to be on to charge a device.

Based on Ottlite's lamp/fixture (model #SCNQC00S) there are 2 things regarding charging a wireless device, first the wireless device must have wireless capability, you can Google your wireless device to find out if the wireless device has wireless charging capability. Second, the wireless device must be compatibly with the QI (Chee) charging station. In order to find out if a wireless device w/ wireless charging capability is compatible w/ the QI (Chee) charging station may I suggest visiting website: www.wirelesspowerconsortium.com in order to find out if the wireless device is compatible w/ the QI charging station.
