Yes, but it must be plugged in an electrical outlet and in range of the base unit.

Hello, Angie! Thank you for reaching out to us. The handsets and base unit provided are pre-registered. In case of an unregistered handset, press MENU on the handset, then press the '#' button and enter code 130. Finally, press and hold [LOCATOR] for approximately 5 seconds, which is located on the base unit. Press OK on the handset when prompted and wait until a long beep sounds. Hope this helps! Please note that the phone system was not tested for this type of usage, only with a landline connection, we encourage you to check directly with the telephone service provider for information. -C
