- Answer Moving from your old telephone to the new one should be relatively smooth. Simply disconnect the telephone line from the old base and connect it to the new one. However, keep in mind that you'll need to configure various settings, such as date and time, answering machine, and phonebook, as these won't transfer automatically. -M
