Yes, they can as long as you have the same type of speaker as far as amperage. If you have two sets of 6 ohm speakers that will work. If you have two sets of 8 ohm speakers yes that will work too. Press the A/B switch once and A's come on. Press again and the B's come on. Press it again and both A and B come on together.

The manual is downloadable from www.pioneerelectronics.com as a pdf, by searching for the model. I think as long as the speakers are the same type of impedance, and possibly only 8-ohm speakers you can play both, but I can't vouch for that because so far I have only one pair of speakers, which are Polk Audio T15s, which work well for me. I think if you try four 16-ohm speakers that would be too much wattage and you might burn out the unit. It says you can use 6-ohms speakers too just not with another pair if they are 8-ohms.
