I didn't need to format any of them. One was simply defective: did not show up on Device Manager so couldn't format anyway.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Make sure that the drive is completely open - you have to press it hard until it 'clicks'. Otherwise it will look like it's all the way open but isn't and won't go far enough into the USB port to make the connection.
