• Yes. The mechanism is a little bit stiff at first, but the metal tip does retract completely into the body of the drive.

• Yes but you've got to be determined. They are really hard to open and harder to close.

• Yes it does, the metal part retracts for protection. Good usb flashdrive

• Yes. The piece that slides over the end of the metal part of the plug has the PNY logo on it. That covers around the metal plug but does not cover the very end part so that is still open.
