Yes, there are instructions on the package itself when you buy the MagSafe pop socket, it works the same as pressing down and twisting like other new pop sockets can do now.

if the adhesive that you want to use have the swap feature(the plush down and twist to sway) than yes but if its one from 4 years ago it would not be able too. on amazon they sale little pucks that may work for the old ones. this one holds very well to the phone so i would rec this one.
