If your turntable works when connected directly to the CD input (or Auxiliary input, or Tape input), then it has a ceramic phono cartridge. Ceramic cartridges have a very high output level albeit lower fidelity than magnetic cartridges. The CD/Aux/Tape inputs are designed for a signal level of about 1 volt, which ceramic cartridges supply. Magnetic cartridges have outputs of .005 volt or less, so they require boosting (preamplification) to the 1 volt level to match the CD/Aux/Tape inputs. So this preamp could be connected to the CD/Aux/Tape inputs, assuming you have a magnetic cartridge in your turntable. If you connect a ceramic cartridge to the inputs of this preamp, I suspect you will overload the input; no harm done except sound will be very distorted. Do NOT expect anyone at Best Buy to know this - even the geek squad.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. On my old Sony receiver, the turntable plays off the cd mode.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, essentially you plug RCA cables (not provided) into the AUX or Tape/CD inputs. Those cables plug into the pre-amp. You then run the cables from the turntable or whatever device you are using into the pre-amp. It will boost the audio.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It should work with any available audio input but make sure to select that audio output to playback thru your amp.
