“Instructions say charge for 6-8 hours. Is this before first use or will led light turn red to indicate low battery . Led is solid red when plugged into wall. Will led turn off when battery fully charged or since it is not flashing is it charged already?”

I've owed this for a few months now, and I've never seen the red light turn green when charged or blinking. It just stays solid red when plugged into the wall, or charging with the solar-powered panel.

So, the charge light shows charging at all times, but the battery has safety circuit to protect the unit of over charge. the 6-8 hour charging statement is just for the very first time. after that, no need to charge for that many hours.
