• I haven't used it specifically as you describe it, but I have used them in a open setting and they didn't capture the sound cleanly. I believe they are meant to be used for up-close purposes.

• Not very well. They may be better than nothing in a pinch, but not ideal. With 2 mics though, you could try to use them as a handled mic and easily pass them between 4-5 people.
