It is powered off your Ipad/IPhone lightning port. The item doesn’t require a battery to use.

I believe it's 2.75 percent for a swiped card or 3.0 percent if you have to manually enter the card number.

You don't need to charge the magstripe reader. Just plug it into your phone, which hopefully is charged, and take payments. :)
