You can use the Spectrum App without a cable box. We only have one box. The TVs in the bedrooms access cable with just the App. If I didn't want the DVR the box would already be gone.

Hello! No, if you already have Spectrum, you won't need an additional cable box for this TV. You can simply download the Spectrum channel to your TV's home screen and login using your existing Spectrum credentials. Happy Streaming!

If you want the cable box you can use it. If you do not want the cable box you can still get the same Spectrum experience by strictly using your household internet provider to download the Spectrum app (icon) and then watch using just the internet. (This is called streaming).
