This is a power amplifier only, it doesn't even have a volume control. Your pre-amplifier will have all of that, and there's a wide selection to choose from that will control this amplifier. In my setup, I use a wired connection from my audio source (old iPod + Apple Lossless) to keep the sound as clean as possible.
