My text notification on the outside will not clear when I've read the messages anymore. I have to shut my phone down and restart it so the alert will go away. It used to clear but stopped after 6 months of use null

Do a hard reset and wipe the phone start fresh and dont change your motivation preferences, now if you swipe and hold you can see the bell icon and gear for that notification setting to change or mute

Reset devise and reload if needed.
