There is a light that goes on when you open the door. The finish on the interior is dark. One thing that you should know is that while the microwave is cooking, there is a very dim light on so you really cannot see how the food is cooking. I was told that this is newer technology. My microwave was 30 years old and had a very good light on while cooking.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There is a light when you open the door and yes, you can see your food. The buttons outside on the other hand does not light up so in a dark kitchen you wont be able to see what you're pressing unless you turn a light on or open the microwave.
