Thanks for the question. It's fine to use the ME16H702SEW in an apartment as long as you're able to mount it according to the instructions. This involves drilling holes to attach bolts through the cabinet above the range, as well as attaching the mounting bracket to the wall behind it. I don't see why it wouldn't be. You do not have to vent to the outside. There is the option to turn the fan (instructions cover this) and recirculate air through the filter and back inside.

It was a perfect fit for over the 30" range in our guest apartment and looks great with the Frigidaire stove - same bright white finish and complimentary design. Also, was substantially less expensive than replacing the old Frigidaire model with a "matching" new one.
