Ir can be vented either way. Directions in doing this are included with the installation instructions.

You can change the exhaust venting to direct it inside or outside. Hope this helps

If you mean recirculation and not venting outside, then yes this micro-hood will vent inside. you have to change the vent fan out of the box, but the instructions are easy to follow and easy to do.
