“Does the overall depth (17.1 in) include the door handle? We would be installing this between two cabinets (12 in. depths), but still above the stove so we would be mounting it on side supports mounted onto the cabinets with no top mounting. I'm concerned that it may stick out too much if the microwave itself is 17.1 inches deep and then more inches for the handle. If the microwave itself is less ( say 15 inches or so), I don't think it would look too bad, but sticking out 5 inches, plus the handle might be less desirable.”

My microwave sticks out 3 1/2 in. The handle sticks an additional 1 3/4 in., but I dont have a problem with this. It looks fine because it is still only half over my stove. I find it easier to reach products in the microwave.
