“Can I connect the soundbar to my Samsung TV with a usb cord or does it have to be the optical cord (the soundbar obviously has an optical port and a USB port but the instructions only discuss connecting it with the optical port)?”

• I'm not sure. I do know you can use the USB port to play music from a portable drive. You could go to www.samsung.com/us/support and ask them.

• You will want to use the optical for best experience. The USB is only going to be a 2.0 and its only used for firmware upgrades and I like to use it for independent security analysis egress

• Hi NewSamsungOwner! The HW-A430 soundbar can be connected to the TV using digital optical audio or Bluetooth wireless audio technology. The UBS port on the soundbar is not used for a connection to the TV; instead, it is used to play music files from a USB storage device or load software/firmware updates to the soundbar. ^Tim
