Hello Greg, When using a Digital Optical cable with the HW-A430 Soundbar you will have the ability to control the soundbar using the TV remote even if it isn't a Samsung TV. This will also give you the most stable connection as there might be things within the room to interfere with a wireless Bluetooth connection. ~Samsung Solutions
