Hi Donna, Let me get the information on when the rinse aid needs to be filled. When the rinse refill indicator lights up on the control panel, refill with rinse aid. Only use a liquid rinse aid. Powdered rinse aid will clog the compartment opening and cause the dishwasher to malfunction. Have a great day. Melardo
