Yes, any fridge with ice or water, does not have to be hooked up. I usually hook them up, then just turn off the lever under the sink for the feed to the fridge, so it can't flood if I"m gone, and turn it on only if I need to use the icemaker for something.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.YES. And it seems that this is your best chance to avoid the loud snapping/popping sounds. So far I have not hooked up ice maker and the ice function is turned off on the control panel. So far after 5 days no loud noises at all.
