I have not changed my filter but I have pulled it out a few times for the Samsung maintenance people because it caused a leak. I never turned the water off when i did you just have to push in the filter harder(I'm assuming since there is no water pressure) and twist. I had 3 visits and none of the Samsung people turned the water off when they pulled the filter out. i would recommend that when you put in a new filter you should check in on it every 5 min for half an hour. make sure it not pouring out water like mine was because it was not seated properly.

However, this is to release built up pressure behind the filter, therefore making it easier to remove. The good news is, the filter housing automatically seals shut when the filter is removed. This means that it is safe to replace the filter with the water supply left on, it just may be more difficult to remove the old filter. ^Jecca
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We just got ours, BUT if you need to shut off the water don’t do it from the back of the refrigerator. If you’re refrigerator is in the kitchen, the top of the line is probably under your kitchen sink. You can easily turn off the water supply from there. After changing the filter, you can easily just turn the knob of the shut off valve that is under the sink and turn the water supply back on.
