The sound is hard because it is subjective to what you are used to. There is no TV with its own TV speakers that would not sound strange and defective to me. So if your earlier set you are comparing it to was larger it probably had better speakers. Small speakers mean better treble and such but the base is horrible. If you saw this in the store or have a store around with similar TVs in size go and compare the sound. In this price and size unless the set is remarkable expensive the sound would probably be close. If your TV does not sound acceptably close then notify Best Buy first and ask what steps you are to take from there. Tell them that you have compared your TV to others of similar size and price and there is something noticeably inferior in your set. If another could go with you so that you could honestly say that others have also notieced the same sound difference that would strengthen your argument that it is defective and not just the normal tinny sounds from tiny speakers.
