A:AnswerYes you can use the ice maker and pitcher without the filter. Samsung charges 50 dollars for a filter that shouldn't be more than 20-25 dollars. I believe they knew a lot of people would stop using the filters, so there is a bypass valve in the fridge that activates when there is no filter installed.
