• I too use my ATT remote for all channels, sound etc. It is necessary to use the TV remote for Netflix, setc.

• The Samsung remote can be programmed to control the cable box , DVD etc.

• this tv comes with a smart remote, so in theory you should be able to use it for your cable box. I was able to control my ps4 with the remote.
