The 8000 is a lot better than the 7000 series as it has true HDR 10. In order to be full HDR compliant a tv must hit a certain brightness level and a certain black level. The 7000 series definitely hits the black level as samsung is know for having really good black levels especially for LED's, but its brightness nay gets around 400-450 nits. True HDr is up near 1000 nits of brightness and the 8000 gets up to 1100+ Nits. The other feature you will get better on the 8000 series is that it also has a Wider Color Gamut meaning it can achieve way more colors than the 7000 and it also had 4 HDMI ports that support Ultra HD Deep Color, also known as HDR which you would need to hook up for HDR gaming or Blu ray. The 7000 does support this but only in HDMI 1, as HDMI 2 and 3 don't support it. For me it was a hassle constantly having to switch between xbox one s and ps4 pro for HDR in the same port , but if you only have one HDR device i can imagine it wouldn't be an issue.
