• Yes, tv is 8.5in wide with the base

• I would recommend a wall mount. 9 inches may be too narrow of a base to safely support the legs on either end of this TV. I would be worried about it getting bumped and falling off the mantle. Additionally, I would be concerned about heat generated from the fireplace (when operating) placing excess heat on the TV.
