“There is a noticeable and annoying lag in the audio that can be seen when people are talking. There is no lag when using the cable box audio output to my stereo. Can I stop this lag with the TV speakers? Would a sound bar also have this lag?”

Hi Ka6pilot, You can adjust the audio delay with your TV or Samsung soundbar. Just press >Home >Settings. >Audio >Expert Settings >Audio Delay, and then adjust the slider to your desired level. Cheers, ^Scott
