“Purchased a Samsung 58" TV un58j5190, about half the channels are full screen and about half have a black bar top and bottom.......HELP”

• The black bar is due to the way the program is sent to the tv. It has nothing to do with the tv itself. If the program is sent in wide screen format and you fill the screen with the picture, it will be distorted. Kind of like a funhouse mirror.

• non- hd channels will be broadcast with the bars - this is an issue with your tv provider - not the tv

• That means that the content you're watching was recorded in movie format which is wider than TV format. There's nothing wrong with the TV.
