I absolutely had this, it was really hard to get off. It was adhesive from the packing tape. Oddly enough, many of the pieces of tape didn't have this problem, just some of them. The worst one covered the oven handle and got into the gap between adjoining metal pieces. I rolled up as much as I could reach with a fingertip, then I used a thin cotton cloth soaked with alcohol to get in the crevices. Took over an hour.

It works on every item I’ve ever tried; even fabric; note it will leave an oil base on porous surfaces so you will have to degrease once the adhesive has been removed from fabrics. * It also works on removing black grease from clothing/fabric, again will need to degrease with a good detergent and hot water.
