We have surround sound but for the first month we did not have it hooked up and the sound was great compared to similar models. Our is wall mounted.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No you don't need a sound bar. Speakers are decent enough, however if you truly want to experience the effect, which I would assume anyone who purchases a 4K TV would, you really need a full 5.1 sound system
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was a little concerned also about sound since my old LG set was horrible. The Samsung is far superior, and even though I have the optical out connected to my surround system, I usually just use the TV speakers for broadcast content.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was surprised at how good the speakers actually were. If you don't mind not having a whole lot of bass you're probably OK with jus the tv but if you you like really good quality sound with decent bass you're gonna want something else.

I never remember to turn the sound bar on & to me the sound quality is great. But my husband always uses it when he watches the tv. Sound bar does make it a lot louder and it has taken several weeks for our 3 dogs to quit barking at the different sounds that reverberate when the sound bar is on. It makes the sound seem to come from different ares of the room. So because of that I would say it definitely makes a difference in the sound quality.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My living room a small not a large area. So I did not need a sound bar. Some stations broadcast lower sound quality but that is not the TV Fault. I think if you have a very large area where your TV is going to be you may want to purchase the sound bar but at this time for me personally I did not need it.
