“will this work in a ps4? If so, is it plug and play or do I need software/drivers? Does it come with everything I need to get up and going? The hard drive went out in my machine and it will not boot up. Thx in advance!”

Yes this will work in your PS4 as I had a Corsair 250 GB drive on mine, I will say it isn't going to make that much of a difference on a pS4 but it is possible, you will have to format a USB stick to FAT 16 I believe and install it on the SSD so the PS4 will recognize it and then connect it to the PS4 and then copy all of your stuff from the old HDD to the new one before installing the new SSD
