Will this work with an Alienware 17 R5 computer? null

It will work with your Alienware. If you have a nvme slot which my R5 does you should also consider the nvme version as your primary and this SATA as your secondary.

This drive will work in an Alienware 17 R5 as a replacement for the "Data or Storage Drive". Not the Primary drive. The Operating System by default runs from the M.2 2242 solid-state drive which is a PCIe NVMe type drive. The 17 R5 also has 2 M.2 2280 solid-state drives, Also PCIe NVMe.
