BobG: Yes, the 870 EVO is compatible with a Dell Inspiron. Using the 870 EVO SSD is as simple as plugging it into the standard 2.5-inch SATA form factor on your desktop — the renewed migration software takes care of the rest. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.they do make adapters for the SSD to mount in a standard 3.5 bay but they are not necessary. It is much smaller then the standard drive and so light it can just sit in the enclosure, it does have tiny screw holes that I used to mount mine in slide in trays but I don't know if Dell has them. I don't know about the migration question you saw but Samsung has downloadable copy software if you are replacing the OS drive that copies everything on that drive and makes it bootable. You may need to enter the bios and change the boot drive sequence after the copy but again, I am not familiar with Dell's. you are gonna love the speed increase.
