Most likely, yes. I had an old Mac Book Pro mid-2013 and used a Samsung SSD to replace the spinning HDD, and it worked great.

They generally have a really good walkthrough on replacing the drive, any tools that are needed, and generally a link to a replacement hard drive that is comparable.
