“I want this SSD for my 5 year old Windows 10 Dell laptop. Question is: Can I backup my current laptop first and then install the new SSD, and then recover my current backup on to my new SSD without any problems or do I have do complete reinstalls?”

You can backup data, but you can't back up the OS. You can clone the old drive to the new drive. You will need an adapter for the SSD to conect via usb to laptop and cloning software.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Best thing to do is to clone the hard drive to the SSD. Windows 10. There are many tools for this. Samsung Data Migration, Macrium reflect, clonezilla, acronis true image.
