No. As long as your phone has the capability of wireless charging. May not be able to fast charge it but it will slow charge it Atleast

Make sure you only use the Samsung charger it comes with or you won't be able to take advantage of the "fast charging" feature which is CONSIDERABLE faster.

The pad needs to be plugged in obviously but the cable comes with the pad.

No, you don't. I leave the pad plugged in on my nightstand and just set my phone on it when I need to. The blue light on the pad will come on if your phone is charging. If it doesn't come on, just move your phone around a little until it does.

No, the unit comes with a standard Samsung charger. Just lay the phone on top and it instantly turns on and starts charging which is indicated by a blue glow. When it turns green the phone is fully charged. Couldn't be easier. If you need a faster charge, just unplug the standard charger and insert it into the USB directly.

Phone has to be wireless charging capable. Other than that just the charger and cord that comes with it to plug it into an outlet.
