• No, thats what lets you know it is working and when its done.you would have to unplug it to shut off the light. Maybe turn it away from you, or put it in a different part of the room.

• I haven't found a way but I find comfort now by placing a box over it. It's open enough to still allow air flow and not overheat but keeps the room dark enough to sleep comfortably!
