A phone will charge in some cases it just depends on the phone case. I have charged in an otterbox commuter case and an off brand clear case. My husband has a thicker off brand knock off case and it won't charge. It also will not charge with a pop socket or with a metal plate in the middle for the magnetic mounts.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, your phone has to be laying on top of the charger (as it uses an induction method of charging)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. It has to sit on the charging pad.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, your phone does not have to be in contact with the charging pad in order to charge. To be even clearer.......I own the iPhone 8 Plus that I keep in a leather case. All I have to do, is set the phone, still in its case on the charging pad. It charges through the case. And at a fast pace too. Not disappointed with this charger at all.
