Using a wallet style fold over case and an Otterbox Defender, I have had no problems with it charging.

I am not sure what kind of case you have but I used an Otterbox Defender case on my old S8+ and this type of wireless charger worked on it so I would guess that it would regardless of your case. Try it out, Best Buy would let you return it if it didn't work but I feel confident that you wont have to worry about that.
