“the auto release for the door has stopped working. Technician has come once, but is coming back as it isn't solved. Is this common? It tries, but just can't quite pop open”

• I’ve read about this all over the internet and it made me fearful to buy the dishwasher as it seems to be very common. It hasn’t happened to me yet though.

• It's VERY common. Go look at the Samsung support web forum, and you'll find there are a TON of unhappy customers (like myself) who have the exact same problem with this dishwasher.
