• It's a flat, hard plastic. It is easy to clean and it also has just a hint of texture to help with gripping it. But it is flat and hard, definitely not like the Alcantana fabric cover from Microsoft's Surface line that you're mentioning.

• The keys are flat plastic. The cover portions have a soft texture to give a bit of friction when holding them.
